Grinlow Art and Storytelling Trail 2015
Chris Robinson
Chris Robinson has worked in a variety of media, including collage, sound, sculpture, writing and digital projection. His work often begins with a text, usually generated by applying seemingly arbitrary rules to the words of another, which results in the transformation of the original into new, or ‘novel’, forms. Sometimes these texts are presented as books.
Examples of his book-works can be found in the artist’s book collections of Tate Britain, The Centre for Fine Print Research in Bristol, and University College London. In 2012 Chris was invited to participate in the al-Mutannabi Street Project, an international touring exhibition of 200 book artists eventually due to reside in the Iraqi National Library, and in 2014 his piece, La Chamade, was exhibited in Moscow and Bristol as part of a joint Russian/UK showcase of book artists.
